Fans of Ning 2.0

A look back at Ning. This group is in favor of the Ning 2.0 platform. We appreciate Ning 3.0 but we adore Ning 2.0. The group has two scopes: 1. To show all the nice things about a network built with Ning 2.0.
2. To ask of ning.com the possibility of creating new networks with the Ning 2.0 platform.

Tim Hunt  April 6, 2018 I never got the opportunity to do so. but I'd love to fooll around with a new Ning 2.0 website. :)From what it sounds like, it really was what made ning successful. I wish Ning 2.0 sites could return to the new open market. and that the only thing from Ning 3 portable to Ning 2 is perhaps multiple instances of the same features. Other than that, they're even made more user friendly and with more engagement tools than you could shake a stick at.It's not a dream. Its basically a matter of flicking a switch on the management side of things to allow the creation of new websites to use the 2.0 platform.Elshara Silverheart April 6, 2018 You seriously don't know what you're missing out on. You're right. Ning was originally built on 1.0 websites, before it changed in 2007 to the 2.0 model. The 1.0 model started in 2004 originally was code you…Continue

A look back at Ning

A look back at Ning - Ning means peace in Chinese, but the meaning actually has relevance as to why it was picked. The name Ning was picked simply because it "was short, sweet, and wouldn't take away from the main focus of our service: your social networks. We wanted you to have domain names that were easy to remember and emphasized what was unique about your network (Bianchini, 2007).Co-founded by Marc Andreessen and Gina Bianchini, Ning began development in 2004 and launched in October of the following year. Ning is Andreessen's third startup, who is credited for starting bothNetscape(computer service) andOpsware(software company) which gives Ning much credibility. Ning began as a startup company named 24 Hour Laundry and grew to become what is now known as Ning.1Uno sguardo indietro a Ning - Ning significa pace in cinese, ma il significato in realtà ha rilevanza sul motivo per cui è stato scelto. Il nome Ning è stato scelto semplicemente perché "è stato breve, dolce e non toglie il…Continue

Ning Story - Gina Bianchini, the high-profile CEO of social networking platform Ning, is stepping down and will become an executive in residence at the Andreessen Horowitz venture firm.Bianchini (pictured here) founded Ning with well-known Silicon Valley iconic entrepreneur Marc Andreessen. She will be replaced at Ning by COO Jason Rosenthal.Ning has raised about $120 million in funding since it was founded in 2004, and it has been one of the more high-profile start-ups and among the most closely watched.Interestingly, I pinged Bianchini last week about some controversies related to discontent among Ning techies I had heard about in the wake of the fall departure of SVP of Engineering Jay Parikh. She responded quickly, noting that VP of Engineering Sridatta Viswanath was doing a great job. And, she added, inviting me in for…Continue

Hello Everyone, my name is Tony and I am a network creator from Italy. I though to write a short review as appreciation for Ning platforms and to invite my fellow Italians to try it. I have started using Ning back in 2014. I still remember the great impression I had when I discovered it. At the time it wasn't much known in the Country. What I really like about Ning is that it's a social network that help you make your own social network. Can you imagine that?To me Ning represents a website that everyone can access and meet people with common grounds, and that's a brilliant. What really distinguish Ning from other networks is that members have control and can decide which rules they want to set and follow so they can shape who they would like their social network.User experience is terrific! There are amazing tools for discussion and to share content. Interface is easy and gives many ways to post and contribute. For example, there's the opportunity to comment on members pages, discuss…Continue

What I adore about of Ning

What I adore about of Ning is a social network in which you could make a social network of your own. Imagine that! For me, Ning is a site where everyone could be on a place in which you have a common denominator. It is an ideal site for everyone. Very brilliant indeed! The great thing that separates Ning from other social networks is it gives control to its members to decide what rules they want to establish for their network and who they would in their network.Continue

Ning is an online platform for people and organizations to create custom social networks, launched in October 2005. Ning offers customers the ability to create a community website with a customized appearance. Ning was co-founded by Marc Andreessen and Gina Bianchini (From Wikipedia).Gina Bianchini: "I am often asked, “how is creating your own social network on Ning different from creating a group on Facebook?” I think it is a great question. Let me start by saying that we think Facebook is fantastic. The first major difference between a Facebook group and a social network on Ning is that a social network on Ning is its own social network. It’s not a group". Continue
